Cliff Diving and Breathtaking Views at Rick's Cafe in Jamaica

Rick's Cafe

Warning: This blog post will make you want to take a vacation.

It’s November, Thanksgiving is just three days away and unless you live in a climate with year-round temperatures in the 70s like sunny Los Angeles, you’re probably in the middle of winter and it’s freezing. Spring and the warm temperatures it brings are still several months away, so to get you through the wintry times, just keep on reading of a place to escape.

If you ever go to Jamaica, you have to jump off this cliff in Negril. No ifs, ands or buts. Kingston and Montego Bay are two of Jamaica’s most populated cities, but one city that’s not on that list actually has one of the most tourist attracted places, and that’s Negril. While Negril is known for its sandy beaches, there’s one place that everyone is drawn to and it’s Rick’s Cafe. Think of your typical beachy cafe, but add a dash of danger. No, seriously. Rick’s sits atop rigged cliffs and overlooks the beautiful Caribbean Sea, but there’s a catch. In addition to sipping on fruity drinks and scarfing down some wings, you can also jump off a 35 foot cliff.

Yes, a 35 foot cliff. Now why would anyone do that, you ask? Well, you made it all the way to Jamaica, so why not? And if you’re too scared to jump off the highest cliff (35 ft.) then there are two shorter options which aren’t as intimidating (25 ft. and 10 ft.). If those options still aren’t good enough for you, there are always locals that will jump off the absolute highest post they have (probably 80 ft.), so you can just sit back and enjoy the show.

If you go to Jamaica, it’s an absolute must that you visit Rick’s Cafe. There’s no way you make it to Jamaica and miss out on breathtaking views overlooking the beautiful sea while living on the edge for a little bit!
